RADHA SOAMI
Yearning for Thee
Meditations
What a tedious journey
Is our exile here:
Dreary is the Sojourn,
Hard indeed to bear!
Oh, beloved Master,
Rescue me, I cry,
Since my yearning for Thee
Makes me long to die.
Dark is this existence;
Bitter is this thrall:
Life that’s lived without Thee
Is not life at all.
Oh, my sweetest Lover,
Miserable am I,
And my yearning for Thee
Make me long to die.
Earthly love that’s earthly
Clings to earth, its home;
Love divine sighs ever
For the life to come.
None can live, Redeemer,
Save when Thou art nigh,
So my yearning for Thee
Makes me long to die.
Who is he that shrinks from
Death, however keen,
Since the life it brings is
Boundless and serene?
Such it is to love Thee,
Lord, eternally,
And my yearning for Thee
Makes me long to die.
Oh, my Lord, I pray Thee,
End my agony:
Succour this Thy servant
As she sighs for Thee.
Rend apart these fetters:
Then how happy I,
Since my yearning for Thee
Makes me long to die.
